A gun concealed in a suspect's backpack unexpectedly discharged as officers were taking the man into custody for disorderly conduct on Sunday night.

According to CBS News, the officer with the Richmond Police Department suffered wounds to both legs and was expected to undergo surgery on Monday. He is expected to be okay.

The suspect—identified as 22-year-old David Ford—has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
