A patrol vehicle belonging to the Long Branch (NJ) Police Department that rolled away from a roadside incident and came to rest on train tracks operated by New Jersey Transit was struck by a train on Monday afternoon.

According to the Asbury Park Press, the officer had responded to back up another officer conducting a traffic stop and thought he had put the vehicle in park. It reportedly was not in park, however, and rolled away from the scene while the officer's attention was focused on the traffic stop.

Police Chief Jason Roebuck said in a statement, "Fortunately, no one was injured, except for some feelings."

No injuries were reported among passengers on the train, but the incident caused minor delays to the transit system.
