Officers with the Dallas Police Department responding to a call of a shooting shot and killed a suspected gunman who had fled the scene of the shooting and was hiding behind a dumpster.
The agency said in its blog that officers arrived to the original crime scene to discover victim injured from an apparent gunshot wound.
They called for medical assistance and the man was transported to a nearby hospital where his condition remains unknown.
A short time later, officers received information on the suspect's location and as they approached the dumpster where the gunman was hiding, he emerged and pointed a weapon at officers.
Officers opened fire, striking the man.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No officers were injured during this incident.
