A former officer with the Antlers (OK) Police Department has opened a medical marijuana dispensary in hopes of giving people an alternative pain and PTSD relief, replacing prescription opioids.

According to KXII-TV, Jason Thomas was badly injured when he was dragged by a car in 2007, and doctors prescribed opioids to deal with pain relief and PTSD.

He told the station he "sat in the dark for a long time."

Thomas left law enforcement in 2014, and started using medical marijuana instead of opioids.

He said that "some of the operations we use to eradicate and to arrest people for this plant is ridiculous."
