A little girl who just finished first grade at Highlands Elementary School in Harrison Township, PA, is aiming to raise $10,000 for her police department through things like lemonade stands, car washes, and cookie sales.

According to KDKA-TV, Kaley Bastine has already raised $3,000 toward her goal so that the department can obtain and train a new K-9.

She also wants to make sure the agency has adequate funding for a ballistic vest for the dog.

Among the patrons who have purchased lemonade and cookies are officers with the Harrison Township Police Department.

Sergeant Brian Turack says that officers have attended every event since learning about Kaley's effort, adding that each event is an opportunity for the community to come together.

Kaley's next fundraiser is a hot dog stand that will take place at Bird Dogs Bar and Grill in Natrona Heights on June 29.
