The county auditor for Anne Arundel County on Wednesday submitted a recommendation to county officials that the budget for the county police department be cut by $2 million for the 2020 fiscal year.

The county auditor for Anne Arundel County on Wednesday submitted a recommendation to county officials that the budget for the county police department be cut by $2 million for the 2020 fiscal year.

According to the Capital Gazette, if the $2 million cut is approved, the county could run out of money to pay new police officers.

The county has struggled in recent years to hire enough police officers.
