An officer with the California Highway Patrol on Friday rescued a duck that had wandered onto a freeway and was in danger of being struck by passing traffic.

The agency posted on Facebook, "Castro Valley CHP responded to a bird brain that had waddled onto the freeway and was ducking between lanes and fowling traffic up. When officers arrived on scene they located the suspect and she appeared to be high on quack."

The post continued, "Officers quickly detained the suspect before she took flight and transported her to the local duck pond before anyone, including the suspect, was hurt. The suspect stated she didn’t want to ruffle anyone’s feathers and was sorry for ducking up everyone's commute. Good job Officers!"

The Facebook post concluded, "Any puns I missed?"
