Boston Officer Struck by Vehicle During Foot Pursuit

An officer with the Boston Police Department was struck by a vehicle during a foot pursuit on Wednesday. He was transported to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to WCVB-TV, the officer was in pursuit of a man wanted on a number of warrants when a vehicle struck both the officer and the fleeing suspect.

The suspect—identified as 39-year-old Wilfredo Burgos—was later apprehended and taken into custody.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with first responders.

Burgos was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer. The driver of the vehicle wasn’t given a citation.
