An officer with the Petersburg (VA) Police Department was injured in a two-car traffic collision early Monday. The injuries the officer sustained were described as non-life-threatening.

According to CBS News, a civilian resident—identified as Darryl Badley—rushed to the scene of the collision from his home and began to administer aid to the victims.

"I jumped up and ran to the accident," Badley said.

Badley first checked on the condition of the officer and then looked into the condition of the two individuals in the second vehicle.

The officer and the two individuals in the other vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were treated by emergency room staff.
