Ohio Department Adding Locker Room and Changing Facilities for Female Officers

The Fairview Park (OH) Police Department will soon add a second female police officer to its ranks, doubling the need for a locker room and changing area for those officers.

The Fairview Park (OH) Police Department will soon add a second female police officer to its ranks, doubling the need for a locker room and changing area for those officers.

According to ABC News, the building was constructed when women in law enforcement were a rarity, and despite various renovations in the intervening years, no facilities for females had been built.  

Currently, the department's only female officer uses a small closet to change into and out of her uniform before and after shifts.

The department applied for and received $50,000 from Cuyahoga County to create women's facilities.
