A New Jersey man is facing 10 to 20 years in prison for attempted murder of a police officer during a 2015 incident.

According to the Asbury Park Press, a jury found 24-year-old Dante Allen guilty of attempted murder, possessing a handgun without a permit, and illegal possession of controlled substance.

Allen testified that the gun he was holding accidentally discharged during a foot pursuit into a darkened parking lot.

Asbury Park police Officer Terrance McGhee returned fire, striking Allen in the leg.

McGhee was in the courtroom when the jury delivered its decision, quietly nodding approval at the announcement.
