A Nez Perce Tribal Police Officer was ambushed and shot at his home Wednesday in Lewiston, ID. The suspect in the attack was killed by police after a vehicle pursuit.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Daniel Cook Jr., attempted to escape the scene. "After firing at Officer Rigney, the assailant got back into his car and fled. He was quickly pursued by Lewiston Police. The assailant then shot at police from his car," Idaho State Police said in a statement.
