Officer Jared Domaracki and K-9 Lehner were responding to the call at approximately 8:00 when another vehicle struck them at an intersection.

A K-9 handler and his K-9 partner with the Buffalo (NY) Police Department were involved in a traffic collision while responding to a man-with-a-gun call on Wednesday morning.

Officer Jared Domaracki and K-9 Lehner were responding to the call at approximately 8:00 a.m. when another vehicle struck them at an intersection.

The agency said in a statement on Facebook that officers had approached an illegally parked vehicle with two individuals—identified as 28-year-old Marcus Prewitt and 30-year-old Nicolas Johnson—the previous evening. The offenders reportedly fled, dragging the two officers from their vehicle.

Those officers were treated for injuries at a nearby hospital.

The offender's vehicle was spotted the next morning. While Domaracki and K-9 Lehner were driving toward the area where the vehicle was seen, the patrol vehicle they were in collided with another car.

The department said that Domaracki was treated for minor injuries, and K-9 Lehner was taken to a local veterinarian, checked out, and "given a clean bill of health.
