A local business owner saw that the dog was unprotected and decided to pay for the German Shepherd's protective vest.

According to the News Sun, Jennifer Lipscomb—the owner of Simple Sounds, a Shipshewana music store—decided that it was well worth digging into her own pockets and pulling out the $600 required to ensure that the dog was provided with the potentially life-saving duty gear.

"I hope he never needs it, but better to have it and not need it," she said.
