California Officer Learns his Supervisor Delivered him as a Baby

An officer with the El Monte (CA) Police Department recently learned that his current supervisor was among the first responders who was on scene when his mother went into a complicated labor in the family's driveway nearly three decades ago.

An officer with the El Monte (CA) Police Department recently learned that his current supervisor was among the first responders who was on scene when his mother went into a complicated labor in the family's driveway nearly three decades ago.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Tyler Dominguez was recounting the story of his birth 27 years ago when Lieutenant Chris Cano's interest was piqued.

Cano had delivered 13 babies when he worked as a paramedic in the San Gabriel Valley before joining the El Monte Police Department.

As Cano heard details of Dominguez's birth—especially the detail that the newborn's life was at stake because his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck—he realized that he was the man who freed the infant from peril.
