According to the Baltimore Sun, the Maryland State Police Trooper fired on the knife-wielding man, fatally striking him.

The trooper—who has not been identified—was airlifted to a trauma center where he was treated and released.

Police identified the assailant as 34-year-old Michael D'Angelo.
