A federal jury has sided in favor of St. Louis County police officers who had been sued by a Ferguson protester who claimed they used excessive force.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the suit—filed in 2014 and seeking $41.5 million in damages—"failed to present any credible evidence that any of the actions taken by these individuals were taken with malice or were committed in bad faith," U.S. District Judge Henry Autrey said in 2016.

Plaintiff Dwayne Matthews had claimed that he was on his way home when police stopped him, held him under water, pepper sprayed him, and beat him.
