Milwaukee Officer Killed Serving Warrant, Suspect in Custody

Officials say around 9:15 a.m., the Milwaukee Police Department’s Tactical Enforcement Unit was in the neighborhood to serve a search warrant. At 9:20 a.m., officers made contact with two subjects — and shots were fired. One officer was struck and mortally wounded.

A Milwaukee tactical officer died Wednesday morning at a local hospital after being shot while executing a search warrant on the city's south side. One suspect was taken into custody.

The fallen officer's identity has not been released. He is reportedly 35 years old and a 17-year veteran of the department. According to WISN, he also reportedly served at least two tours in Iraq during which he survived multiple IED attacks and a four-hour firefight.

The reason for the warrant has not been revealed. The identity of the suspects has not been released.

The officer is the third Milwaukee officer killed in the line of duty in the last eight months.

"This is been an incredible difficult year for the department. Now the third officer has lost his life in the service of Milwaukee, so it's a sad day for this community," Ald. Bob Donovan told WISN 12 NEWS.
