The Plainview (TX) Police Department partnered with a local chain restaurant on Monday to raise money for an officer who has been out since last autumn with an undisclosed illness.

The agency connected with a local Chilli's franchise to raise money to help Officer Jeremy Martinez and his family with insurance and other expenses. Martinez has reportedly exhausted his paid leave while he tries to recuperate.

According to the Plainview Herald, the restaurant committed to donating 15 percent of the day's sales to the cause.

In addition to Monday's fundraiser, officers will hold two separate events on Friday to help Martinez. The first will be a barbecue lunch at a local Elks Lodge. The second event Friday will be a dance also held at the same Elks Lodge.

According to KCBD-TV, a silent auction will be held during both events on Friday.
