The McLean (IL) Police Department is trying to have some semblance of fun with the brutally cold weather gripping much of the northern United States.

The agency posted on Facebook that the Disney animated character Elsa from the popular movie Frozen has been "placed under arrest by Hanahan Police Department in South Carolina with NO BOND until further notice."

The South Carolina arrest occurred in December 2017.

The humorous stunt was orchestrated by Tammy Sakalas, of Sakalas Photography, and Glass Slipper Productions, an events company in Hanahan that arranges for princesses to visit birthday parties and children’s hospitals.

Glass Slipper Productions owner Lindsay Page told The Huffington Post at the time they were inspired by police in Kentucky who issued an arrest warrant for Elsa last week over the criminally cold weather there.

She added the Hanahan Police Department was “very gracious” to participate in the 10-minute-long photo shoot with actress Courtney Fazely. According to Glass Slipper’s Facebook post, Elsa ultimately was sentenced to community service for her mischief.

One citizen took the Illinois agency's humor a little further, saying, "Let her go... let her go... and now we know... Let her go," a reference to one of the film's most iconic musical numbers.

The Illinois agency also said in the Facebook post, "Due to the EXTREME COLD weather, all criminal activity and acts of stupidity and foolishness have been cancelled."
