An officer with the Lafayette (IN) Police Department is in serious condition after being shot in the back by another officer who was firing at an aggressive dog advancing on them.

An officer with the Lafayette (IN) Police Department is in serious condition after being shot in the back by another officer who was firing at an aggressive dog advancing on them.

Officers were reportedly investigating a mischief complaint at an apartment complex at the time of the shooting, according to the Journal & Courier.

The injured officer—who has not yet been identified—was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The officer was reportedly wearing body armor when he was struck.
