Investigators and officers with the Oakley (CA) Police Department—with help from investigators and detectives from the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, the State Department of Justice, and the FBI—have made an arrest in a case that could have ended with an attack on Freedom High School in Oakley.
In late August a person using the social media program Snapchat began sending threatening messages to a group of female students at the school, according to The Press. The same account holder then began to distribute more threatening messages first to a group of other students and then progressed to making threats to the entire campus and school staff.
On Wednesday, investigators traveled to Austin (TX), where they received assistance from Austin PD in the apprehension and arrest of 19-year-old Tristan Amir Curl, who is from Oakley.
Curl will be transported to California under escort by Oakley PD officers when his extradition has been approved through the courts.
