Second Man in Car that Killed Utah Officer Arrested on Homicide Charge

Officer David Romrell was responding with other officers to a burglary in progress call. When they arrived at the scene, the suspects attempted to leave in a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle accelerated toward the officers and struck Officer Romrell.

Other officers fired at the driver, identified as Felix Anthony Calata, fatally wounding him.

The passenger in the car, identified as 43-year-old Jeffery Blac, fled on foot but was later found by K-9 units to be hiding in a boat repair shop.

Black was initially released, but after reviewing evidence, police decided there was cause to issue a warrant for homicide, burglary and obstruction of justice, and other charges, according to reports.
