The carriages in the trackless system are guided by a single channel, rather than a set of tracks on the floor. The channel is attached to the floor along a wall, or directly to the wall itself at floor level.

Ancom now offers NoTrac, a trackless high-density mobile storage system from SpaceNow Corp. The carriages in the trackless system are guided by a single channel, rather than a set of tracks on the floor. The channel is attached to the floor along a wall, or directly to the wall itself at floor level. Carriages ride on three-inch-diameter, non-marring, urethane-rimmed, ball-bearing wheels, specially designed not to damage floors. The carriages accept any type of filing and storage shelving and can support up to 675 pounds per linear foot of carriage length. The system can be easily moved manually or with a mechanical drive.
