A new bone mic tactical headset — so small it fits totally inside your ear — has mic intelligibility comparable to boom microphones.
This bone-mic headset is made to fit comfortably in the ear and picks up voice vibrations form the user’s jawbone, which is where the mic rests. Because it’s a bone mic, interference caused by high ambient noise is eliminated.
The headset microphone and receiver are incorporated into a tiny generic earmold which does not substantially obstruct peripheral hearing and will not interfere with SCBA. The same headset can also be built into a custom earmold.
