A Georgia State Patrol Trooper was injured after exchanging gunfire with a suspect Thursday during a traffic stop on I-75, according to WSB-TV News.

The trooper was reportedly struck in his ballistic vest. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where officials say he is expected to be OK.

The suspect was also taken to the hospital. It was unclear what his condition was.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be handling the investigation.
