The City of McKinney (TX) announced that it has settled a lawsuit filed on behalf of Dajerria Becton, the bikini-clad teenager who was seen on a viral video being taken to the ground by McKinney Police Officer Eric Casebolt.

According to the Star-Telegram, “the plaintiffs and their attorneys will be paid $184,850 by the self-insurance risk pool for the city of McKinney, with $148,850 going to Dajerria Becton.”

The family had originally sought $5 million.

In a joint statement, the Department and the City of McKinney said, “While the events precipitating this case are regrettable, the City of McKinney and the McKinney Police Department would like to express their thanks to the community for its commitment to inclusiveness, order, and unity.”

The “pool party incident” — which transpired in 2015 — eventually led Officer Casebolt to resign from the police force.
