Idaho Officer Wounded in Gunfight in Good Condition

A Meridian (ID) police officer who was wounded in a gun battle over the weekend is in good condition.

A Meridian (ID) police officer who was wounded in a gun battle over the weekend is in good condition, according to the Meridian Press.

The shooting happened during a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon. A man reportedly exited his vehicle and opened fire on the officer. The officer returned fire, killing the subject.

The officer was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery Sunday afternoon.

Officers from a collection of agencies—including Idaho State Police and the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Meridian and Boise police departments—are searching for two individuals who were also in the stopped vehicle.
