A police officer with the Hastings-on-Hudson (NY) Police Department was on her way to work Friday afternoon when she saw a boy jump from an overpass onto concrete below, according to USA Today.

When Officer Jessie Ferreira Cavallo saw the boy jump from the overpass, she slammed her car into park, grabbed her first aid kit, ran to the railing, and leaped after him.

Another woman in a military uniform also stopped to help.

Eventually, the boy opened his eyes, and was transported to a local hospital. His condition is presently not known.

This isn't the first time Ferreira Cavallo has saved a life. The 28-year-old officer told USA Today that she has received about six lifesaving awards in her seven years as a police officer.
