Texas Detention Officer Dies in Crash

A detention officer with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office was killed in a rollover crash driving to work Wednesday night.

A detention officer with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office was killed in a rollover crash driving to work Wednesday night.

Dallas police are investigating the incident, which took place at about 10:30 p.m. on Spur 408 near West Illinois Avenue. Officials say a Corvette was heading northbound when the driver lost control and hit a pillar underneath a bridge.

A sergeant with the Dallas County Sheriff's Office confirmed to WFAA that the victim was a detention officer with the Dallas County jail, identified as 51-year-old Kenneth Luckey.

Dallas County Public Information Officer Melinda Urbina said Luckey has been an employee of the sheriff’s department for 20 years. He was assigned to the release division in the jail, reports eParisExtra.
