A Savannah-Chatham, GA, police officer saved the life of a 29-day-old baby on Friday by performing CPR.

Officer William Eng responded to a call made from an apartment at about 8:30 p.m. He found Tina Adkins holding her unresponsive infant, Bella, Cpl. Hillary Nielsen said.

Eng took the baby into his arms and began performing CPR. After about a minute of compressions, Bella opened her eyes and began breathing, reports the Savannah Morning News.

"I saw the baby move, and I heard a little cry. I stopped and I turned her to my face and saw her eyes open and she started moving," Eng said. "I was so relieved."

"I just thank God for him," Adkins said. "Without him, she may not have been here today, so I thank God for him."
