An officer with the U.S. Marshals Services is in stable condition after he was accidentally shot by an NYPD officer during an early morning raid in Greenville, authorities said.
At about 6:30 a.m. the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Fugitive Task Force arrived at 9 Bayview Ave. to arrest a man wanted for robbery out of New York, sources said.
When law enforcement arrived, a large, aggressive dog started "attacking" one of the marshals. An NYPD officer assisting in the arrest fired at the dog—identified as a “pit bull”—five times, killing the animal, NYPD said in a statement.
However, one of the marshals was struck in the foot by the officer who killed the dog, authorities told NJ.com.
