A Marysville, WA, police officer was injured early Monday when a man fought him as he resisted arrest and then dragged the officer with his car as he tried to escape, according to police.

The officer stopped the driver at 4:20 a.m. and noticed what looked like drug paraphernalia in the car. The officer attempted to arrest the man. They fought at the open car door, and the man jumped back in the driver's seat, police said.

The car reversed, dragging the officer on the road. The car collided with the police cruiser of a second officer who had arrived to help. Then the car crashed into another parked unoccupied car nearby. Other officers arrived at the scene. Police shot the man with an electronic stun gun as they tried to arrest him, reports the Everett Herald.

The injured officer, 30, suffered a broken finger, a bruised hip, and road rash.
