A Tulsa police officer suffered a minor injury after a round discharged inside an ammunition bag that had been dropped Wednesday morning, reports Tulsa World.

The property-recovery officer was carrying a bag containing ammo that fell to the floor at Tulsa Police Department's Gilcrease Division shortly after 8 a.m., spokesman Leland Ashley said. A round inside the bag discharged when it hit the ground.

"We're not sure how, but it fired," Ashley said. "I'm guessing the primer was probably hit when it fell to the ground."

Shrapnel struck the officer in the lower abdomen. That officer was treated for a minor injury at the station and did not need to go to the hospital, Ashley said.
