Law Enforcement Software Platform Raises $27 Million in Funding

Mark43's new software platform combines cloud-based records management and analysis tools for law enforcement.

Mark43, a developer of information management and analysis software for law enforcement, has closed $27 million in Series B equity financing.

Cobalt, Mark43's software platform, combines records management, analysis tools, and investigative tools. The company hopes that its new platform will help law enforcement be more efficient.

"Across the country, officers are spending large amounts of their shifts doing reports behind a computer rather than patrolling the streets. In Washington, D.C., the first metropolitan area to launch our system, we’re giving local law enforcement back over 230,000 hours per year on the street," said Scott Crouch, co-founder and CEO of Mark43.

Investors in the new company include General David Patraeus, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Ashton Kutcher's Sound Ventures, and Goldman Sachs.
