North Dakota Sheriff's Deputy Struck by Flying Mattress

The projectile shattered the windshield and flung glass at the officer.

A flying mattress struck a North Dakota Sheriff's Deputy Wednesday. The projectile shattered the windshield and flung glass at the officer, reports the Bismarck Tribune.

Burleigh County Deputy Sheriff Justin Hoag was driving to pick up a subject on a warrant, according to Maj. Kelly Leben.

A pickup with attached trailer was headed in the opposite direction when a mattress on the trailer came loose and flew off. It struck Hoag's vehicle by the driver side door and busted through the windshield.

Hoag was treated at a local hospital and is doing well, according to Leben. The driver was cited for carrying an unsecured load.
