After bricks were thrown at the Newton, Kan., Law Enforcement Center on Tuesday, Brent Allen Smith, 26, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, battery of a law enforcement officer, four counts of attempted criminal damage to property, one count of criminal damage to property, and one count of disorderly conduct, reports the Wichita Eagle.

The man is in the Harvey County Detention Center awaiting a hearing. Because of the aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer offense, he cannot bond out, jail officials said.

Smith was arrested Tuesday afternoon after the brick-throwing incident. Officers deployed a TASER to subdue the man throwing bricks.

"He really has nothing against the Newton Police Department or the Harvey County sheriff," Newton police Lt. Bryan Hall said of Smith. "He has been dealing with a lot of stress lately." Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the incident, police said.
