Detroit Woman's Halloween Decoration Prompts Repeated Police Visits

Larethia Haddon said Detroit police showed up to her home Tuesday, the first day she placed a dummy face down in her front yard as a Halloween decoration. Officer Jennifer Moreno told The Detroit News that officers came back to her house on Wednesday and Thursday, reports Fox News.

By Friday the calls about what concerned citizens thought was a dead body finally ceased. "Just a dummy," said Officer Shanelle Williams.

Haddon said she puts the dummy face down in a different location of her yard every morning and watches the reactions from passers-by as she drinks her coffee. She says some have attempted CPR and "once they find out it's a dummy, it's so hilarious."

Haddon said the tradition started because her husband's birthday is on Halloween. Haddon said she didn't mean to offend anyone.

"I'm trying to bring laughter to Detroit," she said. "We really need it."
