A Phoenix police officer is in the hospital after injuring his knee when a suspect drove toward him during a foot pursuit on Saturday morning, reports ABC15.
Phoenix police said officers responded to a disturbance call after reports of several people involved in a fight. When officers arrived on the scene, the individuals involved in the fight started to run. One of the suspects, who has been identified as 18-year-old Juan Velarde, purposefully drove a car at one of the officers and the officer injured his knee.
The suspect who drove at the officer fled the area. A perimeter was set up and Velarde was found hiding in the neighborhood. He was taken into custody for aggravated assault on a police officer.
