Two Dover, DE, police officers were injured after being drug by a vehicle Thursday morning.

The two officers found 28-year-old Christopher Brewer reclined in the driver seat in a car in the parking lot of a local shopping center, appearing to be sleeping or under the influence.

The officers attempted to wake Brewer, who reportedly reached for something in the car. The officers then opened the car door and attempted to take Brewer into custody. But Brewer reportedly put the vehicle in reverse and quickly accelerated.

Authorities say Brewer's car dragged both officers across the parking lot before fleeing the scene. Brewer was later arrested after a short vehicle pursuit, WPVI TV reports.

Both officers were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Patrolman Anthony D'Errico was treated for multiple wounds and abrasions, and Patrolman Willie Johnson is currently admitted with a leg injury.
