The Madison, Wis., police officer who fatally shot 19-year-old Tony Robinson during an altercation in March will not be disciplined by the department for the shooting, officials announced Wednesday, potentially clearing the way for the officer to return to patrol, reports the Wisconsin State Journal.

An internal review found that the officer followed Madison Police Department policies during the incident.

The officer was cleared of criminal charges three weeks ago, when Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne said his use of deadly force against Robinson was lawful. Ozanne based his decision on a separate investigation of the shooting led by state authorities.
