Zetron and Kodiak Partner to Integrate Broadband PTT with Zetron Consoles

Zetron and Kodiak have announced that they are partnering to implement standardized IP interfaces to seamlessly integrate the Kodiak Broadband PTT solution with Zetron dispatch consoles.

Zetron, provider of mission-critical communications systems worldwide, is partnering with Kodiak, provider of broadband push-to-talk (PTT) solutions, to develop standardized IP interfaces that will seamlessly integrate the Kodiak Broadband PTT solution with Zetron dispatch consoles.

The integration of these products will leverage the Project 25 (P25) open-standards-based Console Subsystem Interface (CSSI), allowing smartphones connected to the Kodiak Broadband PTT solution to communicate with talkgroups and other land mobile radio (LMR) systems associated with CSSI-enabled Zetron dispatch consoles. Push-to-Talk devices used with the Zetron consoles will operate over the AT&T mobile broadband network.

The integration of broadband PTT with Zetron dispatch consoles delivers a number of important benefits. The Kodiak Broadband PTT platform has one of the largest active user bases in the world, according to the company. Thus, integrating the Kodiak Broadband PTT solution with Zetron consoles opens up new levels of connectivity for both PTT and LMR users. In addition, utilization of the CSSI gives PTT users access to the same carrier-class dispatch capabilities that were previously available only to LMR users. Integration with Kodiak also firmly establishes Zetron consoles as a focal point for seamless connectivity to LMR, broadband PTT, and wireline networks.

"We're very excited about the ways our partnership with Kodiak will improve the capabilities, convenience, and cost-effectiveness of the solutions we're able to offer customers," said Zetron Vice President of Product Management Kathy Broadwell. "Although this will initially be done with the CSSI, moving forward we will be developing additional IP interfaces that will offer customers even more flexibility and opportunities to integrate broadband PTT functionality into their Zetron consoles."

"We are very pleased to partner with Zetron to provide new augmentation to LMR networks," said Bruce Lawler, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Kodiak. "This will make it possible for Zetron's radio dispatch consoles to seamlessly communicate with users on cellular networks, wherever they may be and whatever broadband device they may be using. Access to Zetron's dispatch consoles also provides PTT users with a new level of connectivity, enabling them to communicate with talkgroups and networks that were previously unavailable without being able to connect to a console."

"Dispatchers and mobile employees need a seamless dispatch solution that enables real-time communications across two-way radio and carrier-grade cellular push-to-talk," said Jim Bugel, Vice President, Advanced Solutions, AT&T Mobile and Business Solutions. "Whether customers are looking to completely replace LMR or augment it with cellular PTT, a standards-based approach offers a compelling way to extend dispatch systems to LTE devices and services."
