A Clayton County, Ga., police officer who graduated from the police academy just four months ago died Sunday night in a crash in the line of duty, reports the Clayton News Daily.

Clayton County Police Chief Gregory Porter said officer Darryl Wallace was trying to avoid another car when he ran off the road, reports WSB-TV.

The wreck happened Sunday at 8:30 p.m. on Tara Boulevard at Old Poston Road. Police say Wallace was responding to a prowler call when the accident happened. Wallace, who was alone in the police cruiser, had his lights on.
