On March 26, Officer Cliff Thompson made a split-second decision to crash his patrol car into a vehicle driven by Sandra Sharpe, 59, of Nashville, who was traveling south in a northbound lane on I-65 near Moores Lane, according to a Brentwood Police Department news release.

VIDEO: Tennessee Officer Rams Wrong-Way Vehicle to Protect Motorists

On March 26, Officer Cliff Thompson made a split-second decision to crash his patrol car into a vehicle driven by Sandra Sharpe, 59, of Nashville, who was traveling south in a northbound lane on I-65 near Moores Lane, according to a Brentwood Police Department news release.

Thompson and Sharpe were taken to Williamson Medical Center with minor injuries. Thompson was treated and released, police told the Tennessean.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and will make the decision on whether charges will be filed against the driver.
