San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr was contrite Thursday about the racist text messages sent by officers during remarks to the Board of Supervisors’ public safety committee and said “there will be more than a few officers” referred for termination.

“I cannot un-ring the bell on these texts,” Suhr said.

By the end of the week, the department will have finished its report on the 14 officers being investigated for sending racist and homophobic text messages, Suhr said. As part of the investigation, their personal history questionnaires were audited “to see if there is a red flag common denominator,” the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
