Police say the suspect who was still at large Friday afternoon is an African American male, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-8 and about 20 to 30 years old. A manhunt was still under way at presstime.

An Anne Arundel (Md.) County police officer was in critical condition at a trauma center after being shot by a suspect early Friday morning.

Police say the shooting happened just after 2 a.m. outside a 7-Eleven just off Route 50 in Annapolis where the officer was responding to a suspicious person call, CBS Baltimore reports.

When the officer arrived a struggle ensued and the suspect fled. The officer chased him and was shot by the time other officers arrived.
