Samaria Rice and Leonard Warner, 12-year-old Tamir Rice's parents, ask that police release the full video of Saturday's shooting at the Cudell Recreation Center on Cleveland's west side.

Tamir Rice's parents have released a statement on the shooting death of their son, reports News Net 5.

In the statement, Samaria Rice and Leonard Warner, Tamir Rice's parents, ask that police release the full video of Saturday's shooting at the Cudell Recreation Center on Cleveland's west side.

"We feel the actions of the patrol officer who took our son’s life must be made public," the statement reads. "It is our prayer and request for citizens in the City of Cleveland and throughout Northeast Ohio to remain calm at this time. We ask for the public to demonstrate peacefully."

A Cleveland Police officer shot Rice in the abdomen Saturday afternoon after several people called to report that someone was waving a gun and pointing it at people at the Cudell Recreation Center on Cleveland's west side.

Dispatchers did not relay to responding officers over the radio that the caller said the gun may be fake.
