A drug and weapons arrest in Jersey City, N.J., took a turn for the dramatic Thursday night when a man slipped out of handcuffs and led police on a foot chase through the streets, authorities said.

Police recovered a loaded handgun and drugs when they arrested two 34-year-old Jersey City men -- William Elliott and Shadeed Graham -- who were sitting in a car that smelled of marijuana on Orient Avenue near Martin Luther King Drive at around 10:15 p.m., police told NJ.com.

But as Graham was being escorted into a police vehicle, he slipped out of his handcuffs and escaped custody, officials said.

Several police units, including the Emergency Service Unit and a K9 officer were dispatched to assist in the pursuit, which ended when authorities found Graham hiding in bushes near the tracks, the report stated.
