The family of a Navajo Nation police officer is asking for prayers after he was shot in the head Saturday morning in the line of duty. Family members say Officer Joseph Gregg was alone when he responded to a domestic violence call in the Northern Arizona town of Kaibeto, which is roughly 150 miles north of Flagstaff on the Navajo Indian Reservation. On Sunday, family members told Fox 10 in Phoenix that Officer Gregg is out of surgery after bullet fragments were removed.

Officer Joseph Gregg has been with the Navajo Nation Police Department for 5 years. Navajo Nation officials say he was shot in the head with a 12-gauge shotgun during a domestic violence call. His sister says he had been called to a home in Kaibeto twice in the same day, both times for domestic violence. But the second time, someone shot him in the head.
