A police chase with carjacking suspects in Florence, S.C., on Monday afternoon ended with a police officer and a suspect being shot, authorities say.

A police chase with carjacking suspects in Florence, S.C., on Monday afternoon ended with a police officer and a suspect being shot, authorities say.

The chase involved Florence Police pursuing a vehicle and ended near National Cemetery Road and Barringer Street around 4:45 pm. WBTW TV reports.

The incident began when police spotted 3 men inside a vehicle that was reportedly involved in a carjacking in Richland County on Sunday, Florence Police said. A car chase ensued in which the suspects, who were described as armed and dangerous, crashed the 2-door Toyota Solara into a telephone pole near Barringer and National Cemetery, Florence Police said.

A foot chase then began with one of the suspects being shot and the police officer being shot. Police told WBTW TV that one shot was fired, which hit both the officer and suspect.

Officials say that the injuries to both the officer and the are non-life-threatening.
